Granbury Heating Company Explains What Makes Up Your Heating Unit

Granbury Heating Company,  Glenn-Aire, Explains What Makes Up Your Heating Unit.

Central Unit

A central unit is the part of the system that collects air & compresses it before distributing the air to where it’s distributed throughout the home, via the ductwork. Central Units are often located outdoors & comprised of condenser coils & a compressor.

Blower

In a modern heating system, air is sent by a blowing device, which is automatically activated when the sensors discover a drop in temperature for parts of the home. As the blower starts working, hot air is pumped into the duct work & carried to various parts of the home.

Furnace

This is where heat is generated from. An average furnace heats up the air & releases it when the temperature dips below a particular temperature. In heating devices that use a forced air mechanism, warm air gets pumped through the ducts by a blower. In the radiant variety of heating systems, electricity, steam or hot water are generated in the furnace & distributed by  pipes that are installed beneath the floor.

Air Ducts & Vents

Warm air flows through a network of air ducts, which are passages installed in walls. These ducts end with vents which are found in the:

  • Floors
  • Walls
  • Ceiling

of a room. A majority of heating systems today consist of a central duct, which is often referred to as the Trunk of the system.
