Aledo Heating Contractor, Glenn Aire Company, owner Jeff McKenzie offers advice on how to save on your heating bills this winter.

Winter 2015 is finally here and it is important be keep your heating bills as low as possible. It is no surprise that winter in North Texas can be harsh and while mild winters are not uncommon, we can also have very cold winters and in either case the lower your energy bills the better. Right?

Here are a few tips you can use to reduce your heating bills:

Window Covers For Insulation

A considerable amount of heat is lost through your windows. By purchasing window covers (either plastic or thicker drapes), you can reduce the loss of heat considerably, especially in the evenings. By leaving the window covers off during the day, the sun will naturally heat your home, but in the evening, with the decrease in temperature and lack of light, it’s an ideal time to use them. This is also an effective way of increasing home security by limiting people’s ability to see inside your home at night.

Programmable Thermostat

You’ll be able to program your settings to have a lower temperature when you leave & a comfortable temperature when you’re home.

Water Heater

While you may not notice when the temperature of your water drops from 130 to 115, you will notice it in the bill.

Professional H.V.A.C. Maintenance

By having bi-annual maintenance check-ups on your unit, you can rest assured there are no hidden problems that can lead to major repairs or the complete replacement of your system.
